Leaf/Bud: simple, alternate, round lobes, undulating margin, broadly toothed, bud; terminal bud cluster of 3-4, robust, scaled, hairy

Flower/Inflorescence: light yellow catkin clusters 

Fruit/Seed: acorn 

Stem/Bark: bark is platey, new shoots are tomentose 

Size: grow slowly, 20 - 30m

Habit: upright, spreading crown 

Form: rounded top 

Culture: drought toleran, often found in groves,  

Landscape Use: tree 

Notes: only native oak in BC, is not affected by sudden oak death
