Leaf/Bud: evergreen, glossy leaf, undulating margin, opposite, dark green, lighter on underside 

Flower/Inflorescence: white/yellow cascading catkin, early spring bloom

Fruit/Seed: purple-blackish small fruit, 1cm in diameter 

Stem/Bark: brown, slightly exfoliating 

Size: height 2-5m, spread 2-5m 

Habit: upright, mutli-furcate branching 

Form: dense, bush-like 

Culture: full sun - part shade, very important to be protected from wind 

Landscape Use: large evergreen shrub, early spring interest 

Notes: needs wind protection, fussy until established, dioecious
